1) SZIMPLA KERT (Kazinczi Utca): one of the most famous and frequented bar in Budapest, in Summer they are open air movies. 2 Floors of pure crazyness plus the outdoor part: it’s always crowded of people even if it’s very huge.
2) MUMUS (Dob Utca): 2 floors but small, it was an house with a garden where you can chill during summer. On the second roof there’s a dance room.
3) LAMPAS (Dob Utca, in front of MUMUS): it’s a quite underground place: the main gate is a small black door, you open it and you get in a labyrinth, it looks like a cave or a wine cellar with corridoors and dark corners. Very cool atmosphere for a drink
4) GODOR (Deak Ferenc Tèr): the place is located under the square. This square is a big green area settled in the middle of the city and in summer is full of people that spend their time there, drinking and talking. There’s also a sort of amphitheater with a lot of tables. Godor is under this square and it’s an underground club with a lot of cool events: live music, jazz sessions, balkanic dj set. Just keep yourself informed
5) CORVINTETO (Blaha Lujza Tèr): it’s on the last floor of a palace, now there’s a club, quite cheap. On summer you can get on the roof and rule with your gaze the city!
6) MERLIN (Deak Ferenc Tèr): club for posh people, it’s a multicenter with different spots: clubs, cinemas, theatres. Check the program on their site
7) INSTANT (Hajòs Utca): created by the Fine Arts Academy and it was a flat: every group of artists had a room to paint and decorate so every room is different than the others (see the pic). Close to Instant there’s also a Gyros and the Langos of Budapest. Langos is a typical dish of Hungary
CSENDES (Ferenczy’l utca): Great for chilling with a room full of weird objects. Very nice for a beer or a cup of chocolate. The eclectic design is considered a form of Hungarian contemporary art and the bar is a meeting place for students of ELTE University.
9) A38: club on a boat on the Danube! It’s close to Petofi Hid Bridge
10) MORRISON (Andrassy Ut): the place sucks with a karaoke and a lot of commercial music but…it’s the meeting place of Erasmus students on Monday. Before 11 pm you get in with 1,80 euro and 3 free beers. Pick up chicks is quite easy
11) KUPLUNG (Kiraly Utca): very big place with nice music. There’s also a chill out room
