It all started more or less one year ago. We were lost in the freezy Munich, Germany, looking for something exciting to do at night. It was 2008 ,December 30th , if I remember well. Hell, It was the third day of our stay in Munich and all we met there were 2 drunken germans, a girl and a guy, who approached us in the streets with strange intentions. We flaked them out after some beers cos it was getting dangerous. Then, of course, we met tons of Italians, and to be honest, we hated this.We travel to meet new people and new cultures, not to spend times with other italians! (we are Italians so we talk about Italians, nothing against them. If you are German, maybe you don’t like the idea of meeting just Germans while you are travelling across Tibet)
So we decided to create a place where unconventional travellers (aka “Sundowners”) could share their experiences and help each other with tips from cities where they live in. The idea is something like: “We are living in Milan, we know the best places in Milan and we share them with you guys. You will do the same for your city, let’s help each other, let’s have fun!”.
It started as a website, then it turns into an informal blog, where we collect information from our friends and contributors that share our vision.
At the beginning it was just about nightlife and fine living (if you can call “fine living”, looking for the best place to eat without spending too much)…later on we understood that “Sundowner” is a lifestyle, an unconventional way of travelling and living, as well, so we decided to blog also about things related to this idea. You will get more explanations in the “Sundowner’s List” page.
